Noble Jones

Noble Edward Joseph “Buck” Jones, 78, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1940 in Vincennes to Noble and Ann Louise (Messel) Jones. Buck worked as a brick mason for Union Local No. 4, of which he was a Gold Card member. A member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA, he loved riding motorcycles and his dogs.

Surviving are his wife, Teresa (Ferguson) Jones, whom he married in 1996; his children, Shelly Cary and her husband, Paul, Barbara Vermillion and her husband, Dick, Judy Pohl and her husband, Mark, Kenneth Jones, and Richard Jones and his wife, Tiffiney, all of Vincennes; along with nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vincennes Animal Shelter. Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to serve Buck’s family.

Connie Carol Keyes

Connie Carol Keyes, 76, of Vincennes, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1942 in Casey, Illinois, to Wood Rex and Elsie Mae (Fain) Grissom. Connie was an office administrator for Vincennes Orthopedics

Surviving are her son, Geoff Faith and his wife, Dana, of Vincennes; a brother, Philip Grissom of Flat Rock, Illinois; two grandchildren, Reed Faith and Cody Faith and his wife, Stevie; and a great-granddaughter, Hayley Faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Richard Keyes; two sisters, J. Elaine Siler and Sheryl Culp; a nephew, Richard Culp; and a step-son, Richard Keyes.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Ellen Marie King

Ellen Marie King, 90, of Vincennes, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 at BridgePointe Health Campus.

Ellen was born on June 9, 1928 in St. Louis, the daughter of Lawrence A. and Jessie M. (Jackson) McCullough. She married Robert William King and he preceded her in death in 2003. Ellen retired from Vincennes University as an English professor. She attended First Presbyterian Church and later Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Richard King and his wife, Theresa Talarek, of Vincennes; daughters Lora Peters and her husband, Tom, of Vincennes, and Carolyn Hughes and her husband, Kevin, of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Andrew Peters, Elizabeth Peters, Jessica Kelley, Sarina King Criss, Adriana Hughes, and Conor Hughes; and great-grandchildren Maggie Peters and Abby Peters.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert King, and her sister, Fern Maher.

Friends may visit with Ellen’s family from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. Her memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. George Ford officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home is honored to assist the King family with arrangements.

Thomas D. Shidler

Thomas D. Shidler, 63, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018.

He was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Fields) Shidler; a son, Clinton Shidler; and five sisters, Carolyne Higgins, Nita Ladson, Marilyn Aldrich, Marsha Groves and Christy Keller.
