Healthy Harvest Heroes Fun Walk and Roll

This year the Bettye J. McCormick Senior Center is hosting a Healthy Harvest Heroes Fun Walk and Roll! This event will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 28 at the senior center, 2009 Prospect Ave. This “Walk and Roll” is dedicated to our seniors and special needs heroes who are working towards a healthier lifestyle through fun and exciting avenues.

The walk will be on a set course throughout the senior center’s outdoor walking track and adjacent parking lot. Colorful powders will be blasted into the air during the walk, coloring the participants with bright colors. Our heroes will be sporting a full spectrum of colors as they “Walk and Roll” over the finish line.

At the end of the event our heroes will celebrate the last laps with a DJ and then more color blasts! Food and fun await for the rest of the afternoon.

Our Senior Center Heroes need your help in sponsoring them for this awesome event! A sponsorship of $50 provides one of our participants a white event t-shirt (for the colors!), colored powders for their shirts, special finishers medals, event music with DJ and an after party with food, drinks and more!

If you would like to sponsor one of our special heroes, please contact Nola Davis at 812-882-2285 or e-mail nola@vincennesymca.org.

The Winter Warrior Virtual Run is coming soon

The Winter Warrior Virtual Run will start on Dec. 21, the first day of winter, and run all the way through March 20, 2021, the first day of spring.

This year our goal is 180 Miles! This is an average of 15 miles per week.

The registration fee is $35 and registration will open in November.

Virtual race participants will be able to keep track and report their own miles daily, weekly, or monthly through our easy-to-use online form. Running totals will be updated daily so runners can check their miles. Miles can be submitted through the YMCA of Vincennes Web site home page or through the YMCA Member App.

What counts as miles? Running, jogging, walking, indoor tracks, treadmills and elliptical machines will count towards your miles. Daily step counts will not be counted. We want you to challenge yourself and your fitness to achieve more!

Participants will receive a participation t-shirt and customized race bib. Finishers receive race medals.
