The main library at 502 N. Seventh St. re-opened to the public on July 6. Visits are limited to appointments only. Our current hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We are limited to only 10 patrons at a time. You may use a computer, look for books, or use the youth department. Each appointment is assigned a library staff member. You may also call and request books and DVD’s. We will call you when your request is ready and you may then pick up your materials at the main library.

Upon entering the library your temperature will be taken and your appointment verified. You must also wear a mask as required by the governor.

We are doing all we can do to make your library experience as pleasant as possible. All staff members wear masks, and we do have a supply of masks if you should need one. Dr. Alan Stewart, county health officer, has approved all of our requirements. Please be patient with us as we try to serve you, the public.

All fines acquired during this pandemic virus are being forgiven. Books that are returned are quarantined for three days before they are re-shelved.

We also have a variety of books for sale outside the main library entrance. These items that are usually sold by the Friends of the Library group.

We add new items for borrowing by patrons on a weekly basis. We are grateful to patrons for making purchase suggestions. If we don’t have an item that you want, we can order it for you.

We appreciate our patrons and we are here to help you.

During the time we were closed, the main floor renovation was completed. The check-out area was remodeled and the DVD area was updated. Our hours are subject to change as the state relaxes COVID-related rules. At the present time, there are no restroom facilities available to the public.

We have a busy August planned for the Youth Department! We have educational videos coming out every week with the help of some local teachers we are calling the “Tutor Team.” We have videos for ages kindergarten through fifth grade on a wide variety of both reading and math-based topics. Those videos will keep going through August and are available on our Facebook page and through our YouTube channel. Simply search YouTube for “KCPL Tutor Team” to find us!

We’ll continue to release online content including, but not limited to, virtual story times, how-to videos, book chats and more. Check out our Facebook page, “Knox County Public Library Indiana” to keep up with the latest happenings in the library! Should you have any questions, please give us a call at 812-886-4380.
