The Knox County Public Library is very proud to be a part of two great services coming to our area!
The first service is a brand new website called WabashValleyConnect.org. This site is a collaborative database that allows anyone to instantly and anonymously search and find social services in their area! You only have to enter your zip code to find up-to-date information on organizations. There is no requirement to enter your name, phone number, or any other personal information, unless you choose to send it to a program.
Wabash Valley Connect is an amazing tool for our community. It allows anyone to search and find any kind of help they might need for themselves, a friend, or family. Services listed range from food pantries to healthcare services to job search help and much more! You can also reach the services by typing in what you are looking for on the search bar on the library’s Web site, kcpl.lib.in.us. The librarians here at KCPL are being trained on how to use the site and are happy to answer any questions you might have or help you find resources you need.
The other service we are proud to announce is that the wonderful Volunteers in Tax Assistance (VITA) will be returning to the library to provide free tax preparation every Saturday in February. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are slightly altering the process. We are asking that patrons pick up a tax packet from the Knox County Public Library, 502 N. Seventh St., in advance and fill out as much of these forms as possible prior to drop off at the library. Packets are available now and can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays in February at the library. Patrons are reminded that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines are followed and the statewide masking mandate is enforced. The Bicknell-Vigo Township Library, 201 W. Second St., Bicknell, will have two drop off dates, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 and Feb. 18.
This is a free program presented by the United Way of Knox County and is a fantastic, easy way to get your taxes done! If you have any questions about the program, you can contact the United Way office directly at 812-882-3624. You can also contact the Knox County Public Library at 812-886-4380 or the Bicknell-Vigo Township Library at 812-735-2317.
