Due to coronavirus pandemic, for only the second time (the first being World War II) the Monroe City High School Alumni Association banquet was cancelled this year.
In this challenging time, we felt it was important to still provide scholarships to these three worthy descendants of our alumni:
Kendall Mayall, a graduate of South Knox, is the daughter of Richard and Marcie Mayall. She is the granddaughter of the late Brad Burke (Class of ’66) and Lynn Wilson Burke (Class of '67). Also graduates of Monroe City were her great-grandparents Gerald Burke (Class of '34) and Mildred Belcher Burke (Class of ’37) and Harold Wilson (Class of ’43) and Helen Perry Wilson (Class of ’44). She plans to attend Vincennes University and be an agribusiness major.
Nolan Hays, the valedictorian atSouth Knox, is the son of Frank and Mary Hays. He is the grandson of Dale Dellinger (Class of ’55) and the great-grandson of Helen Ice Dellinger (Class of ’24). He will be attending Purdue University and majoring in computer engineering.
Ethan Roos is the valedictorian of Heritage High School in Lincoln City. His parents are Daniel and Krista Roos. He is the grandson of Rick Leech (Class of ’64) and Lynn Mize Leech (Class of ’67). Also graduates of Monroe City were his great-grandparents, Helen Wilson Mize (Class of '47) and George Olin Leech (Class of ’35). He will be attending Indiana University as a pre-medicine major.
Cyrus Adams is the vice president of the Monroe City High School Alumni Association and a member of the Class of '67.
