Median U-turns open at Oaktown
The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced the opening of the Median U-turns in Oaktown and the closure of the existing crossovers.
Beginning today the Median U-Turns at the intersections of U.S. 41/Old U.S. 41 and U.S. 41/Freelandville Road. Motorist using Freelandville Road and Old U.S. 41 will make a right hand turn onto U.S. 41, and proceed to the designated u-turns to make their left hand or straight movements.
Once the U-Turn movements are open to traffic, the existing median crossovers at both locations will be permanently closed and removed. Work is scheduled to be substantially complete later this month with the project scheduled for full completion by mid-September.
Section of U.S. 50 to be closed Thursday
The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that U.S. 50 between Business U.S. 50 and Illinois 1 will close at 6 p.m. CDT on Thursday. Work is expected to be complete by 9 p.m. CDT.
IDOT officials say the closure is necessary for emergency pavement repairs in a construction zone.
Eastbound U.S. 50 traffic will be diverted at Ill.1 and use Business U.S. 50 through Lawrenceville.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area,when feasible motorists should use of alternate routes. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
Lincoln Logs available at high school

Foundation hosting pancake breakfast
The Camp Wildwood Foundation will host a pancake breakfast from 7:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the camp, 2609 Washington Ave. The menu will include coffee, juice, milk and sausage. Cost is $5, with proceeds going for improvements to the camp lodge and grounds.
The camp is available for rent for parties, picnics, receptions and meetings and features an enclosed lodge building with kitchen facilities, in addition to on site parking.

Fish fry fundraiser is Friday
The annual YMCA Fish Fry Fundraiser will be Friday. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under and are available for purchase in advance at the Y, 2010 College Ave.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. The menu includes a fish filet sandwich, a hamburger or hotdog, with sides, chips, drink and a dessert.
