The New Year baby has arrived.
Good Samaritan officials on Monday welcomed its first baby of 2021.
Banx Kyle Long made his debut at 9:39 a.m., weighing in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 22 inches long.
He is the son of Shelby
Criss of Lyons and Davon Long of Haubstadt.
With a scheduled induction on Jan. 4, the couple said they were not expecting Banx to be the first baby of the new year.
Criss said even though she was induced, the delivery went fast.
“He came one hour after my water broke,” she said. “I didn’t even have time for my pain medication to kick in.”
Banx will be welcomed home by siblings Brody, 4, and Colbie, 3.
“It’s sad not getting to have my other babies here, but this time because of the visitor restrictions I feel more relaxed and get to spend more time with Banx,” Criss said. “We’ve had a great experience and everyone has been extremely nice.”
Not only was the couple congratulated with a gift basket from the hospital, but they also received a special gift from the family of the New Year’s baby of 2001, who wanted to pay it forward for what they received when their baby was born at Good Samaritan.
