Man shot in downtown Vincennes, police looking for three suspects

City police say one person was sent to the hospital Monday night after being shot in an alley near Seventh and Shelby streets.

Police were called to to that location just before 9 p.m. where they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Vincennes police say they believe the shooting followed an altercation, and they don’t believe there to be a continuing threat to the general public.

Police are now looking for three suspects, all male, that are still at-large. They were driving a white Ford Crown Victoria, a vehicle identified in surveillance footage captured in that area. To view it, visit the VPD’s Facebook page.

Police are releasing no additional details at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the VPD at 812-882-1630.

Vincennes firefighters battle blaze

Firefighters say just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, crews at Station No. 2, located at 11th Street and College Avenue, saw flames coming from a home across the street at 1103 College Ave.

Three occupants, two adults and a child, were located in the entry way of the home and were assisted out. Firefighters found a fourth resident, an adult, inside that had to be assisted out as well.

All four were taken to Good Samaritan for treatment, one with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was contained to the rear of the residence and an attached carport area and was under control within about 15 minutes, firefighters say.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state Fire Marshal’s office.
