'Terrific Trees' nature walk Sunday

Explore the variety and majesty of the trees of Ouabache Trails Park, 3500 N. Lower Fort Knox Road, during “Terrific Trees,” a casual walk through various habitats. Meet with local naturalist Terri Talarek King at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Sacajewea Shelterhouse (at the back end of the “lower loop” of the park). The walk will be on Trail 7, first down through a wetland and stream area, then to the upper woodlands. Attendees should be prepared for traversing a wet and muddy area, and for hiking some steep slopes. The walk will be 1.5 to 2 hours, and will proceed rain or shine.

“Terrific Trees” is part of the Second Sunday Nature Exploration series for 2019, all at Ouabache Trails Park. Walks are free and no registration is required. All ages are welcome and families encouraged. For questions or more information, email or leave a voice message at 812-881-8987.

The American Legion will conduct its “Post Everlasting Ritual."

Additional Veterans Day services will be held at 10 a.m. at Fox Ridge Assisted Living, 150 Fox Ridge Drive, 11 a.m. at Willow Manor Nursing and Rehab, 3801 Old Bruceville Road, 1 p.m. at GentleCare of Vincennes, 1202 S. 16th St., 2 p.m. at BridgePointe Health Campus, 1900 College Ave., and 3 p.m. at Lodge of the Wabash, 723 E. Information in an article in Thursday's edition of the Sun-Commercial needs clarification. The county commissioners waived the fees associated with some back taxes owed by Rod Mullins, owner of Mullins Supply on Indiana 67 in Bicknell. In doing so, the commissioners said they wanted to ensure that the property sold to a buyer willing to reopen the hardware store there so Bicknell wasn't without one. Actually, Myron Mackey, the owner of Mackey's Do it Best with Mor for Less, has been operating a hardware store at 321 Main St. in Bicknell since 1979.
