Library to host Books and Beats
The Knox County Public Library today will host Dennis Stroughmatt and L’Exprit Creole playing French Creole music from 11 am. to 1 p.m. on the front porch of the McGrady-Brockman House at 614 N. Seventh St.
Music lovers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the front lawn for this “socially-distanced” show. Both events are free and open to the public.
Local COVID-19 numbers continue downward trend
Knox County on Friday recorded just two additional cases of COVID-19, marking nine consecutive days with ten or fewer new cases. The county’s positivity rate also dropped, once again, to 3.7%.
Since the coronavirus outbreak began here in late March, there have been 515 confirmed cases and nine deaths in Knox County. There have been a total of 8,129 tests performed.
Statewide, there were 1,195 new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday as well as an additional 18 deaths.
There have been a total of 115,407 Hoosiers test positive for the novel coronavirus; among them, there have been 3,340 deaths.
Good Samaritan Hospital offering men’s health fair on Tuesday
Good Samaritan Hospital is offering a Men’s Wellness Fair this month.
The event will will be from 7-10 a.m. and again from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Woods Community Center, 1377 S. Hart St. in Vincennes. Pre-registration will be required as space is will be limited to accommodate social distancing.
Due to COVID-19, this event, which was previously called the Men’s Health Tune Up, will be simplified to only include health screenings. The free screenings offered will include blood pressure, colorectal take-home kits, pulse oximetry, and a lab draw that will test blood sugar, lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), glomerular filtration rate (kidney function), and PSA for prostate cancer.
Attendees must pre-register for the Men’s Wellness Fair online at gshvin.org/wellnessfair or by calling 812-885-3336. All attendees will be socially distanced and must wear a mask. Fasting for 10-12 hours before the lab draw is recommended, but not required.
