Knox County Coroner Karen Donovan, 40, was arrested last night on charges of official misconduct, possession of meth and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
Indiana State Police say they initiated an investigation a year ago after receiving information of alleged misconduct. Last night, a search warrant was executed at Donovan's residence in Vincennes, and detectives located meth and fentanyl, according to a press release issued by the ISP.
She was taken to the Knox County Jail but has since posted bond, the release says. All three charges are Level 6 Felonies.
The arrest comes after county officials this week have said Donovan stopped reporting for work or communicating with her deputies months ago and that they would likely seek her removal from office.
Donovan denied the allegations Tuesday in a text to the Sun-Commercial.
