Good Samaritan Hospital offering men’s health fair
Good Samaritan Hospital is offering a Men’s Wellness Fair this month.
The event will will be from 7-10 a.m. and again from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 29 at Highland Woods Community Center, 1377 S. Hart St. in Vincennes. Pre-registration will be required as space is will be limited to accommodate social distancing.
Due to COVID-19, this event, which was previously called the Men’s Health Tune Up, will be simplified to only include health screenings. The free screenings offered will include blood pressure, colorectal take-home kits, pulse oximetry, and a lab draw that will test blood sugar, lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), glomerular filtration rate (kidney function), and PSA for prostate cancer.
Attendees must pre-register for the Men’s Wellness Fair online at gshvin.org/wellnessfair or by calling 812-885-3336. All attendees will be socially distanced and must wear a mask. Fasting for 10-12 hours before the lab draw is recommended, but not required.
United Way seeking to honor food service workers
The United Way of Knox County is hosting its inaugural Unsung Heroes Recognition Contest and is seeking nominations for the county’s best servers and food delivery drivers. Nominations are entered into a weekly drawing, and the winners receive a $250 cash prize.
