Chamber taking applicants for Leadership Knox County
The Knox County Chamber of Commerce is now taking applications for the 2022-23 Leadership Knox County Class.
Held in partnership with the Purdue Extension, the class consists of monthly sessions held September 2022 to May 2023.
Participants “learn through personal experiences and self-assessments, small group activities, panels and networking opportunities with local and regional business, nonprofit, education, and government leaders,” according to a press release issued by the Chamber.

Applications are due by Aug. 15.
Registration open for Watermelon Festival 5K
Time is running out to sign up for the Watermelon Festival 5K Run/Walk and as well as the festival’s numerous watermelon queen pageants.
The festival is set for Aug. 5-6 on Patrick Henry Square. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finisher in the 5K as well as the participant with the best watermelon-themed race attire.

Registration for the run/walk is $30.
Forms for the pageants may be downloaded at the Knox County Chamber of Commerce’s website, www.knoxcountychamber.com and may be then dropped off at the Chamber office, 702 Main St.
Registrations must be received by noon on Aug. 3.
The pageant fee is $30 per child.

VU Alumni Association accepting nominations for Davis Citation
The Vincennes University Alumni Association is now soliciting nominations for the 2022 Walter A. Davis Memorial Citation. All university alumni and friends are eligible to make nominations; the deadline is Aug. 14.
Nomination forms may be completed online at vinu.edu/davis-dinner. Included should be letters of recommendation and/or other supporting materials, such as a resume, news articles, etc. Nominations can be dropped off at the VU Alumni Association, faxed to 812-888-5942 or sent via email to vualumni@vinu.edu. The Walter A. Davis Citation has been presented annually since 1952 to a VU alumnus or a resident of the greater VU community. This award recognizes and promotes civic leadership, professional achievements, and above all outstanding community contributions.
