SHS set to host series of Halloween events
The Vincennes State Historic Sites this month will host three spooky programs, beginning with a downtown Ghost Walk on Friday.
Beginning at the Old State Bank building, 114 N. Second St., the walking tour will visit several downtown buildings and offer participants fun, spooky tales, legends and ghost stories associated with each stop.
The tour, too, will share other historical information about some of these downtown destinations.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour is from 7-10 p.m., and the cost is $15 per person.
There, on Oct. 16, a ghost hunting team from Indianapolis will be exploring the “spiritual world” from 7-10 p.m. around the Fort Knox II area, located at 3090 N. Old Fort Knox Rd.
The cost for the ghost-hunting experience is also $15.
Finally, on Oct. 23, the State Historic Sites will host a Spook-a-licious Extravaganza from 6-8 p.m.
The Halloween program — designed for preschool through elementary school-aged children — will feature a “not-so-scary trail walk,” complete with candy handouts from the site’s ghoulish volunteers.
A variety of Halloween-themed activities will abound, including Dracula’s Disco, Spooky Story time with the Knox County Public Library, the Little Thriller Movie Theatre, and science activities at the Dr. Franken-Lab, among other activities.
The event will take place at the main site, located at 1 West Harrison Street. The cost is $5 per child.

The Halloween Bash is being sponsored by American Family Insurance.
