Library to host Books and Beats

The Knox County Public Library this weekend will host its inaugural “Books and Beats” event.

Free Book Friday, sponsored by Friends of the Knox County Public Library, will kick off at 10 a.m. in the reading patio, formerly the meeting house parking lot, at 502 N. Seventh St. Families may choose up to five free books to take home, and Paula Smith, a library employee, will sing and play the guitar from 11 am. to 1 p.m.

The event continues Saturday with Dennis Stroughmatt and L’Exprit Creole playing French Creole music from 11 am. to 1 p.m. on the front porch of the McGrady-Brockman House at 614 N. Seventh St.

Music lovers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the front lawn for this “socially-distanced” show. Both events are free and open to the public.

For more information, call the library at 812-886-4380.
