Sieur de Vincennes

The statue of Francois Marie Bissot, the Sieur de Vincennes, generally considered to be the founder of the city, located at the start of the Riverwalk, has drawn the attention of those who would like to see the facility used more. They argue that the placement of the statue, which is an artist's interpretation of what Bissot may have looked like, inhibits using what they call a natural stage for musical performances that would bring more visitors downtown. Supporters of the placement say a statue commemorating the founder of Vincennes deserves such a prominent spot.
