Matilda “Tillie” Burger, 2 of Jasper, died at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center with her family by her side.
She was born at St. Anthony on April 24, 1926 to Martin and Rose (Schnell) Leisman. She married Elmer Burger on Oct. 26, 1948 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne Society, Daughters of Isabella and the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post 673.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna English and her husband, Robert, of Vincennes; her son, Elmer A. Burger Jr., Jasper; grandchildren Tracy Sayles and Michael English; great-grandchildren, Ariana and Darrius; and her sister, Dorothy Sherman of Jasper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, on Dec. 23, 2004.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel.
