Wilma Jean (Shackelford) Mattox, 87, formerly of Vincennes, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Evansville.

Jean was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Vincennes the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude E. (Gott) Shackelford.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and worked in health care as an LPN. She married Richard Mattox and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2010. She attended New Beginnings Lakeside Fellowship Church in Evansville and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Tony Caballero and his wife, Jeannie, of Byers, Texas; Cathy Donaldson Sapp of Evansville, Bruce Aiken and his wife, Denise, of Vincennes, and Nannette Perkins and her husband, Steve, of Vincennes. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua and Meredith Caballero, Jeremiah and Cheryl Caballero, Jessica and Jeremy Gibson, Richard Donaldson, Matt Donaldson, Dan Aiken, Cole Aiken, Brandon and Corie Aiken, and Sarah Perkins; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mattox; her parents, Arthur and Gertrude Shackelford; and a brother, Ramon Shackelford.

The funeral will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday on Saturday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Horner officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard Mattox, in Memorial Park Cemetery.
