Jacob H. Crewell Jr.
Jacob H. Crewell Jr., 96, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, died on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at his daughter's home in Webster Groves, Missouri.
Born in Lawrence County on March 11, 1923, he was the son of Jacob Henry Crewell and Beulah Pauline Shepard Crewell. He was a retired machinist and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 and was a decorated World War II combat veteran. He was married Dec. 6, 1947, to Bessie Means, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Ted Henry Crewell of Urbana, Illinois; two daughters, Nancy Jill Crewell of Altamont, Illinois, and Kimmie Pacatte of Webster Groves; as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bessie, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. CDT on Saturday at First United Methodist Church. He donated his body to the medical school at St. Louis University. There will be no visitation.
