Marilyn J. Bateman

Marilyn J. Bateman, 85, of Vincennes, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospice.

She was born on June 29, 1934 in Vincennes to Raymond and Cyrena (Nolting) Like. Marilyn retired as a secretary for Broward County in Florida. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, shopping, and was an avid Indiana University basketball fan.

Surviving are her husband, Cleo Bateman Jr., who she married on July 13, 1957; her daughter, Michele Traversone and her husband, Hernan, of Houston; her two grandchildren Kayla Traversone and Nicholas Traversone; her siblings, Anita Kellersohn of Oaktown, Shirley Cornelison of Oaktown, and Roger Like of St. Augustine, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

There will be no public services as Marilyn’s wish was to be cremated. Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Marilyn Bateman.

Dorothy Marie Dunlap

Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Dunlap, 75, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1944 in Monroe City, the daughter of Noble and Estella (Blessinger) Boger. She married Jack W. Dunlap on Dec. 24, 1959, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1992.

Dottie worked in the healthcare field for over 50 years, and became a registered nurse in 1982. During those years, she worked for a number of healthcare facilities, including the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital and the United Methodist Village. She was a member of the Sumner Free Methodist Church. Her hobbies included playing bingo, going on trips to Milwaukee, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include one son, Jack “Jay” Dunlap and his wife, Tracy, of Bridgeport, Illinois; two daughters, Lynda Kramer and her husband, Tom, of Sumner, Illinois, and Penni Hutcheson and her husband, Tony, of Albion, Illinois; four brothers, Donald Boger, Ronald Boger and his wife, Marilyn, Rick Boger, and Jackie Boger and his wife, Leslie, all of Vincennes; one sister, Donna Kathryn McGregor of Vincennes; her best friend, Brenda Smith; six grandchildren, Heath Judy, Erin Hall, David Hall, Jacob Judy, Thomas Kramer, and Kayla Rogers; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jack; one brother; and two sisters.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. CST on Saturday at the Bridgeport City/Shiloh Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center and Wig Shoppe. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.

Eleanor Joyce Johnson

Eleanor Joyce Johnson, 84, of Bruceville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at Oak Village Nursing Home in Oaktown.  

Eleanor was born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Bruceville, the daughter of Alfred Andrew and Dottie Beatrice (Harrington) Johnson. She worked for Brown Shoe Factory and later retired from  housekeeping for Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of the Bruceville Christian Church and helped with the youth group.

Eleanor is survived by two brothers, Paul Johnson and his wife, Marcie, of Mesa, Arizona, and James Johnson of Bicknell; a sister, Rita McCormick of Oaktown; and numerous  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Andrew and Dottie Beatrice (Harrington) Johnson; two brothers, Denver and Roy Johnson; an infant sister, Naomi Ruth Johnson; her sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson; and a brother-in-law. Paul McCormick.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Bruceville Chapel, with Glenn Turner officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Bruceville Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from noon until the hour of services on Nov. 13 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bruceville Christian Church youth group, the Oak Village Nursing Home, or the Good Samaritan Hospice. Terry Lynn Page

Terry Lynn Page, 60, of Bicknell, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at her residence.

Terry was born on Nov. 14, 1958, in Agana, Guam, the daughter of Robert and Marilyn Grigsby. She graduated from in North Knox High School in 1977 then attended the Vincennes Business College. She married Mike Emery Page on Saturday, Aug. 19, 1978, in Sandborn. She had worked as an assistant for Sievers and Companies. Terry was also a member of the Sandborn Baptist Church.

Terry is survived by her spouse, Mike Page; her two sons, Mike Page Jr. and Derek Page, both of Bicknell; her parents, Robert and Marilyn Grigsby of Sandborn; one brother, Tim Grigsby and his wife, Angie, of Westphalia; and five grandchildren, Gracee, Abby, Brayden, Katy Page, and Hope Cutsinger.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Joni Grigsby; a niece, Alicia Davidson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Bicknell Chapel, with Pastor Bryan Sanders officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James Robert Rendt, 63, of Bicknell, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
