PALMYRA — James “Jim” A. Burnside, 80, Corydon, passed away on July 28, 2020.
Jim was born on Feb. 8, 1940, to Daniel and Zoe (McCord) Burnside.
He married Mamie (Crawford) Burnside on Oct. 14, 1960, and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Oakland City College with degrees in
American History and Geography. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, Grundman’s, and the genealogy department of Harrison County Library. Jim enjoyed many hobbies including reading, photography, making special gifts for family members and spending time with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie (Crawford) Burnside; a daughter
and her husband,
Angela and Gary Byrne; a son and his wife,
Mark and Marilee Burnside; two sisters, Sue Rusk and Jennifer Crawford and her husband, Ray; two brothers and their spouses, Ron and Betty Burnside, and Tony and Kay Burnside; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Daisy Byrne, Jordan and Jordan Byrne,
Tyler Byrne, Gatlin Burnside, Katie Unruh and Kyle Cannon; as well as six great-grandchildren, Rick Byrne, Avery Byrne, Henry Byrne, Temple Byrne, Lilly Unruh, and Evan Cannon.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
