Russell Porter Rogers Sr.

Russell Porter Rogers Sr., 67, of Sumner, Illinois, died on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019.

He was a recruiter with the Illinois National Guard and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his fiancée, Judy Glenn; one son, Russell Porter “Buddy” Rogers Jr.; two daughters, Christine Cosby and Debra Martin; three brothers, Kurt Rogers, Gary Rogers, and Perry Rogers; six sisters, Mary Londono, Ruth Geyer, Judy Rogers, Portia Strelbski, Lisa Klemisch, and Danielle Wiley.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. CDT on Friday at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery with military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. CDT today at the funeral home.

Robert Wayne Thompson

Robert Wayne Thompson 70, of Bicknell, died on Tuesday, Aug.6, 2019.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Bicknell United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his brother Alex Thompson, and sisters Mary Page and Tina Chambers.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Bicknell Chapel, with pastor John McKinnon presiding. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel handled the arrangements.

A cost estimate can be provided in advance of publication upon request.

The deadline for submitting an obituary for Tuesday through Friday editions is 4 p.m. Eastern time the preceding day. The deadline for Saturday editions will be 5 p.m. on the preceding Friday.
