Diana K. Beard

Diana K. Beard, 69, of Decker Chapel, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1949 in Princeton to Leslie and Norma (Self) Sullivan. Diana was a hairdresser for over 20 years and also was a dental assistant for Dr. Ellison and Dr. Whaley. She was a member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church, Women of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church, and the American Veal Association. Diana was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, crafts, loved being around her grandchildren, and was always looking after the less privileged.

Surviving are her husband, Jim Beard, who she married on July 26, 1983; her children, Kim Hughes and her husband, Jeff, of Vincennes, Dan McCrary and his wife, Shelly, of Wheatland, Chadd Beard and his wife, Angie, of Decker Chapel, and Bryce Beard and his wife, Leslie, of Decker Chapel; a brother, Leslie Sullivan Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Tampa, Florida; a sister, Lana Catt and her husband, Richard, of Washington; nine grandchildren, Mallory Hughes, Allie Lawrence, Raven McCrary, Walker McCrary, Lucas Beard, Kaitlyn Beard, Caroline Beard, Morgan Beard, and Makinley Beard; a great grandchild, Gunner Lawrence; and a special great-niece, Heaven Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Patricia Smith, and her husband Gary.

Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Evelyn Owens officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m, until the hour of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church.

Larry D. Edgin

Larry D. Edgin, 70, of Vincennes, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Larry was born on Aug. 17, 1948 in Vincennes, the son of Marshall and Ruby Cummins Edgin. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1966, and on Aug. 26, 1966 he married Linda Crawford and they made their life together for almost 53 years. Larry was a contractor, having owned Edgin Construction Co. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and VFW and was an avid horseman, riding with the Washington Saddle Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Edgin; their children, Michelle Tranbarger and her husband, Kerry, of Gastonia, North Carolina, Deana Bottoms and her partner, Jim Dant, of Terre Haute, and Greg Edgin and his wife, Jonna, of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Kyle Tranbarger and his wife, Elaina, Kaleigh Ellis and her husband, Will, Ryan Bottoms and his wife, Kristin, Riley Bottoms and Alexis Edgin; his great-grandchildren, Kaleb Tranbarger, Ella Ellis, Jaden Tranbarger and Aubrey Ellis; a brother, Dennis Edgin of Indianapolis; his sisters, Reba Kimmell of Columbus, Donna Mullens of Vincennes, Joann Howder of Vincennes, Carol Fields and her husband, Ron, of Evansville, Linda Waller and her husband David of Cadiz, Kentucky, and Kathy Burch and her husband, Jerry, of Vincennes; and his many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home, 521 Vigo St., with Pastor Andrew Hamilton officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Riley Children’s Hospital. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist the Edgin family during their time of loss.

Connie Jo Smith

Connie Jo (McNelly) Smith, 63, of Vincennes, died on Monday, May 27, 2019.

She was retired from Gemtron and was a member of Bethlehem General Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Smith; her children Brad Petelle, Justin Petelle, Joshua Catiller, Angela Cunningham and Amy Hedrick; one sister Cecilia Flowers; and one brother, Jeff Hamilton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday at Fredrick and Son McClure Utt, Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem General Baptist Church. Fredrick and Son McClure Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel handled the arrangements.
