Earl Davis Howell

Earl Davis Howell, 80, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.

Earl was born on June 25, 1939, to Earl P. Howell and Evelyn T. Fogel and was raised in Vincennes.

He is survived by a daughter, Andrea Hignite; a sister, Sue Howell Karns; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. 

Earl was cremated, and his remains will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Linton on Sunday.

Mary E. Kortea

Mary E. Kortea, 94, of Vincennes, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Willow Manor.

She was born on Feb. 10, 1925 to Riley "Shack" Fowler and Emma (Harbison) Fowler in Petersburg. Mary married Donald Rex Kortea on July 16, 1943. She was a member of the River of Life Church in Petersburg.

Mary is survived by her sons, Donald Robert Kortea and Kenneth Dewayne Kortea; her sisters, Pansy L. Smith, Imogen Boker, Norma J. Stafford, and Diana Sue Jones; her sister-in-law, Janet Fowler; foster children Amy Schmit and Tamara West; six grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Ronald Theodore Kortea.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg with Rev. Jim Gidcomb officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be noon until the hour of services today at the funeral home.

Tracy D. Twitty

Tracy D. Twitty, 52, of Vincennes, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville.

Born on Feb. 18, 1967, in Vincennes, he was the son of Earl J. Twitty and Agnes Pauline (Cobb) Twitty. Tracy served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked at FIA, and had also worked as a health care provider at KCARC.

Surviving are his brothers, Ronald Twitty and his wife, Yong Cha, of Oaktown, and Jay Twitty and his wife, Amy, of Vincennes; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Monday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. Friends may visit with Tracy’s family from noon until the hour of services on Monday at the funeral home.
