Robert L. “Bob” Duncan, 78 of Edwardsport, passed away at the Freelandville Community Home on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021.
Bob was born Oct. 23, 1943, in Sullivan, the son of Oscar Duncan Jr and Helen M. Wehmier Fairhurst. He was a pastor, evangelist and carpenter. He graduated from North Knox High School, received an associate’s degree from Vincennes University and a bachelor’s degree at Oakland City University. He was a pastor, a member of the Newberry Christian Church in Newberry, and he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion, and he held membership in the Masonic lodge #429, where he was a Past Master.
He married Beverly Kay Frederman on Aug. 18, 1974, and they made their life together for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Kay Duncan; sons, Keith Duncan and his wife, Andrea, and their children, Jesse, Bryan, Joshua, Christian and Katie, all of Oaktown; Stacey Duncan and his children, Cortney and Vincent, of Bicknell; and Chris Duncan and his wife, Julie, and children, Allyssa, Chase, Jordon and Storm. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy, in infancy; his parents; and a sister, Betty Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating. He will be laid to rest in Edwardsport Town Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. A Masonic service will be held at 12:30 p.m., and military honors will be presented by the All Weather Firing Squad.
