Dale E. Lucas, 78, of Vincennes, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital with his wife at his side.
Dale was born March 26, 1942, in Linton to Elmo and Rhoda “Madge” Lucas.
He graduated from Linton Stockton High School in 1960 and Purdue University Civil Engineering School in 1964. Dale worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation where he was a licensed civil engineer from 1965 to 2005, when he retired. He retired from the Indiana Air National Reserve U.S. Air Force at the rank of Major Civil Engineer Squadron Commander in 1990 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Evansville, attended the Community United Methodist Church, during the winter he attended Garden Baptist Church in Gardner, Florida, and was a member of the Elks of Lawrenceville, Illinois. Dale was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed traveling, bus trips, going to Florida in winter, playing golf, playing cards, watching Purdue ballgames, and riding his trike.
Dale married Karen (Fiscus) Lucas on Dec. 18, 2014, at Garden Baptist Church in Gardner, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jill Lucas of South Bend; his son, Alex Lucas and his wife, Noel, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Grant and Kate; a sister, Betty Shonk and her husband, Glenn, of Linton; sister-in-law, Donna Lucas of Franklin; step-son, Ronnie Pinkstaff and his wife, Beverly, of Carrollton, Georgia; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Terri and Pam; brother, Don Lucas; and stepsons, Joe Pinkstaff and Brad Pinkstaff.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the service time Monday at the cemetery.
