Hill praises paper for homelessness series

I would like to commend the Sun-Commercial and especially writer, Jill Erwin, for the comprehensive and personable series on homelessness. It is so important to put a face and picture on this community dilemma. Her touching portrayal of individuals and her own self-disclosure were a special touch.

The county has been attempting to address some of the underlying issues addressed in this series but, frankly, we need greater community input and involvement from individuals and organizations throughout the area. This important series has raised awareness, and those of us involved in the Homeless Task Force have noted the increased concerns expressed by a number of local people. We are hopeful that those who have expressed an interest in helping will join our Task Force and, more importantly, join one of our four committees that are actively working on solutions.
