To the Editor:
As a life-long historic preservationist, I am opposed to the demolition of Vincennes home stock in the 600 block of First and Second streets.
While none of the buildings as individual structures are known to be notable in architecture or history, they collectively contribute to the street scape of a significant street artery. Vincennes, Indiana's First City, should cherish the era of 19th and 20th century history.
The street scape as an entity tells a story of living community neighborhood with proximity of business and residential.
Vincennes University has a beautiful campus. The contrast of village to campus accents the uniqueness of each and should be preserved as is.
Changes to the SunCommercial's back end processing means the e-edition is getting a facelift. The biggest change is the e-edition, by default, is now presented in Text view.
