BRAZIL — Class 2A No. 16 Northview netted two first-half goals and shut out Class A No. 8 Rivet, 3-0, in girls soccer Saturday.

Back-up keeper Katie McGuire made 10 saves for the Lady Patriots (8-5-1), who started the match with just 12 players. Coach John Anderson credited Maggie Niehaus, Caroline Herman, Kathryn Herman, Morgan Alderton and Katie Daugherty with strong defensive games.

"The team did well, given we were shorthanded and playing a quality opponent like Northview on its field. They are a quick, athletic team," Anderson said. "We held them in check for the most part. We had some short bursts offensively, but with several playing out of position, we had nothing sustained to mount a quality attack."

Rivet plays at Northeast Dubois at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
