Lindsey grabs 10th at Age Group State
FRENCH LICK — Luke Lindsey of Vincennes carded a two-round score of 26-over-par 170 to take 10th place in the Boys 12 division of the Indiana Junior Golf's Age Group Championship at the Valley Links course on Tuesday.
Ryan Parker of Fort Wayne won the division with a 3-under 141. Jake Cesare of Westfield was second at 1-under, and nobody else in the field broke par.
Lindsey was better in his second round Tuesday, shooting an 83.
His round Tuesday was highlighted by a stretch of three straight pars on the second through fourth holes. He birdied the par-3 seventh hole but a double-bogey at No. 9 put him at 4-over at the turn. A pair of double bogeys hampered Lindsey on the second nine and bogeys on the final two holes finished his round.
On Monday, Lindsey struggled through seven consecutive over-par holes on the front nine. He birdied the par-4 10th hole, but a stretch of four straight over-par holes plagued him over the back nine. He carded a 15-over 87 in the first round.
A bright spot for Lindsey in the tournament was the par-3s. The rising Clark seventh grader was 2-over on the eight par-3 holes. Just Parker, Cesare and Leo Dellinger of Monticello were better, all by one stroke.
