PETERSBURG — Tristen Dubbs recorded a pair of second-half goals to help Class A No. 9 South Knox pull away from Pike Central for a 3-0 boys soccer victory on Tuesday.
Jackson Thomas had the first goal for the Spartans (8-0) in the 35th minute off an assist from Dakota Candler. Dubbs made it 2-0 in the 51st minute off an Eli Thomas assist, and his final score came with 11:00 showing, with an assist from Collin Myers. Keeper Trevor Malott had six saves in the clean sheet.
“This was a good win over a quality opponent,” South Knox coach Tim Goodwin said. “Our effort continues to stay focused throughout the game, and our defense is unheralded. It doesn’t get enough credit, but they played well, as they have all year. The whole team was solid from front to back, and it’s fun to watch. It’s a great group of kids. We talked about being a family out there, and you can see it in their play.”
South Knox hosts Class A No. 14 Shoals at 5 p.m. Thursday.
