BLAINE, Minn. — Adam Schenk was near the lead again Friday at the PGA's 3M Open before a late stumble put him in 19th place after his second round.
The Vincennes golfer is at 6-under par halfway through the tournament, easily overcoming the cut line of 2-under for the low-65 golfers and ties.
Schenk has sizzled the last three weeks on tour, placing fourth and 15th in his last two events. His opening-round, 6-under 65 on Thursday had him one stroke behind the leaders.
Starting on the back nine Friday, Schenk birdied the par-5 12th and the par-4 16th to reach 8-under overall. He bumped his score to 9-under with a birdie on the par-4 second. At that point he was tied for second place.
But his first bogey of the tournament came on the par-4 fifth hole. Two holes later, Schenk suffered a double-bogey on the par-4 seventh to drop to even par on the day.
Adam Hadwin and Ryan Armour share the second-round lead at 10-under. Four players are tied at 9-under.
