Bobe's nabs Sr. League title

First Vincennes Savings Bank third baseman Miles Nickless hauls in the close-range flip from shortstop Daveon Jennings to retire Rotary’s Kain Ellerman for the force out Saturday in the championship game of the Senior Rookie League at Joe Bilskie Sr. Field.

Four tournament championships were won on Saturday as the Vincennes Cub League concluded its 62nd consecutive youth baseball season at Joe Bilskie Sr. Field.

The only team to win a tournament title that wasn’t a regular-season champion came in the Senior League, where sixth-seeded Bill Bobe’s Pizzeria upended fourth-seeded Marriott, 7-2, for the championship.

Matthew Pearison led the way for Bobe’s (10-6-1), going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Will Hambrick singled twice with an RBI, Parker Hardiman singled with a pair of RBIs, Caden Trowbridge had a hit and RBI, Hunter Bilskie and Drayk Murphy had hits, and A.J. Bilskie supplied an RBI. Pearison, A.J. Bilskie and Dusty Taylor each pitched two innings in the victory, and Pearison and Taylor each struck out two.

Elks (9-5-2) was the regular-season champion in the Senior League.

For Marriott (10-7), Josh Clegg had a hit and RBI, and Evan Hartwick and Gavin Stantz chipped in singles. Mavrick Benjamin, Justin Siewers and Blayne Boger each hurled two innings, with Boger not allowing a run.

In the Junior League, No. 1 Good Samaritan Hospital outlasted No. 3 Piper Diamond Co., 2-1.

For GSH (16-2), Justice Jackson, Carson Sanders, Miles Gardner and Chase Neal all had hits, Sanders and Kash Kerzan scored runs, and Jayden Thacker had an RBI. Thacker, Gardner, Sanders and Johnson did the pitching, combining on a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Zayden Field paced Piper (12-7) with two hits, and Colten Wonning added a single. Jesse Love scored the run. Connor Hahn, Wonning and Landon Hartley did the pitching.

In the Senior Rookie League, No. 1 Rotary cruised to a 16-1 victory in five innings over No. 3 First Vincennes Savings Bank.

Leading the way for Rotary (18-1) were Layne Willis with a double, two singles and four runs; Reid Kelso three singles, two runs; Cale Bezy double, single, four runs; Kaylin Bezy and Kain Ellerman three hits and two runs; Tayte Walker two hits, one run; Trey Scere two hits; and Maddyn Thorne and Cohen Price singled.

Braylon Sanders and Dakota Walk each singled twice for FVSB (13-5-1), Kable Collins had a hit and a run, and Daveon Jennings, Gabe Keyes and Miles Nickless all singled.

F.O.P. (15-2) shared the regular-season Senior Rookie title with Rotary.

No. 1 Wabash Food Service capped off a perfect season with a 9-2 victory over No. 3 Pepsi in the Junior Rookie League title game. WFS rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score nine unanswered runs in its final two at-bats.

Draven Jennings topped WFS (19-0) with two doubles, one single and two runs; Collin Smith two doubles, single, one run; Toby Tewell and Knox Stearns double, run; Austin Pinkstaff, Heath Boger, Gunnir Lovett and Alius Alton single, run; Tyson Allen double; and Bryson Jones single.

For Pepsi (12-6), Cole Risley doubled and singled with a run; Mason Potter double, single; Henry Stafford single, run; Aiden Hinz double; and Grady Seibert and Cooper Evans single.
