The Vincennes Cub League is hosting a pair of Southern Indiana Babe Ruth League State Tournaments this weekend as 7- and 12-year old teams from the region converge on Vincennes.

The 7-year old coach-pitch tournament gets started today on the Red and Yellow diamonds with a five-team field, while the 12-year old tourney has four teams and gets underway Saturday at Joe Bilskie Sr. Field.

The Vincennes 7s play the opener at 6 p.m. on the Red against South Gibson and go again at 7:30 p.m. against Posey County. On Saturday, the local club takes on McCutchanville at 10 a.m. and concludes pool play against Newburgh at 1 p.m. Knockout games, seeded based on pool results, begin at noon Sunday with the championship at 5 p.m. All games Saturday and Sunday are on the Red Diamond.

The Vincennes 12s have pool games Saturday against South Harrison at 11 a.m. and Newburgh at 5 p.m. South Gibson is the fourth team in the field. Semifinals Sunday are at noon and 2 p.m., with the championship to follow at 4 p.m.

Both Vincennes teams enter the weekend coming off tournament wins last weekend. The 7s went 4-0 to win the Forest Park Ranger Rumble and weren’t tested until a 9-7 title win over Ireland. They won the first three games by a combined 40-0 score.

Likewise, the local 12s were 4-0 in winning the Shakamak Invitational. No opponent came closer than five runs to Vincennes, as they racked up a 51-6 margin in the four victories.

Daily admission for this weekend’s tournaments is $5 for adults and $2 for students (ages 6-15). Tournament passes are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children 5-and-under enter for free.
