DUBOIS — Rivet senior Tia Tolbert poured in four goals, but that wasn't her biggest achievement on Tuesday as the Class A No. 12 Patriots rolled to an outright Blue Chip Conference championship with a 12-0 girls soccer win over Northeast Dubois.
Tolbert had two assists in addition to her goals, which put her at 46 for her career and set a new school record. Abby Niehaus added three goals and an assist for Rivet (9-6-1, 4-0 BCC), Maggie Earley had two goals and three assists, Kennedy Johnson two goals, Caroline Herman three assists, Carmen Creech one goal and Kenadee Frey and Jayda Millspaugh each had one assist. Creech's goal was the first of her career.
Millspaugh had six saves in goal in the first half, and Katie Daugherty made two saves after the break.
“I have to give credit Kenzie Willis and Carmen Creech for their offensive performance in the midfield. They kept Dubois back on their heels,” Patriots coach John Anderson said. “Morgan Alderton and Katie Daugherty on defense really shut them out in the first half, not letting them get any penetration on our end.
“It was a big night. Obviously the big things were wrapping up the Blue Chip and Tia getting the assist record. I was proud that we accomplished those things tonight.”
Rivet hosts Bloomfield for Senior Day at 11 a.m. Saturday.
