Tickets are on sale at several locations in town for the upcoming 10-year-old Cal Ripken World Series at the Vincennes Cub League on Aug. 5-13.
All-session passes, good for all 60 games of the World Series, are available at the discounted price of $20. The price increases to $30 after July 31.
The all-session tickets can be purchased at Vincennes Water Utilities, 403 Busseron St.; German American Bank at 101 N. Third St., and 2814 N. Sixth St.; Old National Bank at 100 S. Sixth St. and 1905 Hart St.; and First Vincennes Savings Bank at 615 Kimmell Road and 2612 N Sixth St.
Individual day passes for the World Series will be available at the gate for $10.
Twenty teams are participating in the World Series, including two host teams, the 10-year-old and 9-year-old Cub League All-Star teams. The rest of the field is filled by regional champions from across the country. Teams arrive on Aug. 4 for orientation at Clark Middle School, with games beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 5, and the Opening Ceremony coming later that evening at 7:45 p.m.

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — Alli Hayden and Emily Dreiman, both of Monroe City, took first and second in the 14-and-under division of the Mount Carmel Junior Tennis Tournament on Thursday.
Four participants were in the division and played a round-robin. Hayden won all three of her matches and handed Dreiman her only defeat, 6-1, 6-2. Hayden also downed Isabelle Blake of Washington, 6-0, 6-1; and Ellie Gaug of Jasper, 6-1, 6-1.
Dreiman defeated Gaug, 6-2, 6-4; and nearly blanked Blake, 6-0, 6-1.
Bethany Christian wins Church League
Bethany Christian Church claimed the Church League softball championship on Thursday with a victory over Harvest Bible Chapel.
Other teams that competed in the league this summer were Bethlehem General Baptist, First Baptist, and Franklin Heights Christian. Games were played at the Community United Methodist Church softball field.
