MATTOON, Ill. — Lawrenceville co-op golfers Camren Ray, Hayden Hesler and Garrett Hulfachor advanced to the sectional round by way of top-10 finishes among non-qualifying teams at the Class 2A Mattoon Regional on Monday.

Charleston and Mattoon tied for the low score at 334, with Charleston winning the title with a better fifth-man score. Paris (345) joined the tying duo in advancing to the sectional. The Indians were sixth in the ninth-team field with 360.

Ray had the lowest score among non-qualifying teams with an 83. Hesler was fourth at 86 and Hulfachor sixth at 88. They advance to the Charleston Sectional next Monday.

JH Warriors tally volleyball wins

BICKNELL — North Knox’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams scored wins over Dugger on Tuesday.

The eighth grade prevailed, 25-11, 25-7. Reagan Jones had 13 points, five aces, five kills; Madison McCory seven points, six aces, six kills, seven assists; Gabby Lemons five points; Harlee Keller four points, two aces, seven kills, two assists; Maddy Scere four points; and Tessa Arnold two assists.

The seventh grade won, 25-16, 25-9. Alex McKinley tallied 15 points, 10 aces, two assists, two kills; Adyn Telligman six points, two aces; Ally Crist four points, two aces; and Brynna Collins three points, two aces, two assists, three kills.

The Warriors play at 6 p.m. today at Rivet.

Clark volleyball takes league tourney opener

Clark’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams defeated Princeton in the first round of the Southern Indiana Junior High Athletic Conference tournaments Monday.

The eighth grade won, 25-17, 25-20. Elizabeth Curry-Jones notched three aces, two assists and two kills; McKenna Henderson two aces, six assists; Macey Fisher two aces; Lola Farrar four kills, two blocks; Mattye Meadows two kills; Courtney Deffendoll seven digs; and Jade York four digs.

The seventh grade won, 25-10, 25-22. Matti Collins had four points, three aces, seven assists, two kills; Addy Alton three points, six aces, three kills; Kate Jones three points; Macey Jenkins two points, two aces; Olivia Wehrman two aces; Kahre McCrary five kills; and Addi Connor two assists.

The Alices played Tuesday at Jasper.
