LINTON — Lincoln's tight first-set win wasn't nearly good enough, as Linton bounced the Alices in volleyball, 24-26, 25-10, 25-18, 25-20, Tuesday.

Darrian Carmean collected 11 kills and 13 digs for the Alices (26-4), who have lost three in a row. Maycee Lange had 12 kills, Kali Haynes 18 digs and Callie Foster 31 digs.

Lincoln's junior varsity fell, 20-25, 25-17, 15-4. Mackenzie Newland had seven kills and eight digs; Zoey Weiss seven kills; Jaclyn Sutton 17 assists; Jenna Gardner 10 digs; and Cameron Cary two aces.

The Alices host North Knox at 6 p.m. today for senior night.

Volleyball Warriors rally past Sullivan

SULLIVAN — Emilee Organ smacked 21 kills to go with eight points and nine digs, and North Knox’s volleyball team rallied for a 25-20, 22-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-8 victory over Sullivan on Tuesday.

Grace Yochum added 12 kills and four blocks for the Warriors (17-6); Mallory Earhart 13 points, two aces, 20 assists, two digs; Hannah Saucerman 12 points, three aces, six kills, 25 assists, 17 digs; Abigail McKinley eight points, two kills, four digs; Megan Cross five points, two aces, nine kills; Jacqui Alsman three points, five digs; Matty Hoffman three kills; Mercedes Harbin six digs; and Rayne Held three digs.

The junior varsity prevailed, 25-14, 25-16. Shelby Haag notched 11 points, two aces, three kills, five digs; Emma Saucerman nine points, two aces, 15 assists, five digs; Tessa Haag seven points, five digs; Mallory Rogers three points, four assists, four digs; Keanna Thomas 10 kills, four digs; Emma Wampler three kills; Layna LeRoy two kills, two digs; Shelby Shaw two kills; and Kylee Messel two digs.

The Warriors play at Lincoln at 6 p.m. today.

No. 3 Loogootee pops volleyball Spartans

Class A No. 3 Loogootee upended South Knox’s volleyball team, 25-10, 25-12, 25-19, in a Blue Chip Conference match Tuesday at South Knox.

Hannah Ivers posted 10 kills and 15 digs for the Spartans (9-17, 1-5 Blue Chip); Lauren Loudermilk 11 assists, nine digs; Mallory Obermeyer eight digs; Kaylee Parrish three assists, two digs; Leah Ellermann two digs, two blocks; Hallie Kirk three kills; Savannah Benjamin two kills; and Lanea Holscher two digs.

South Knox’s junior varsity fell, 25-11, 25-8. Evelynn Dodd contributed six digs, two assists; Rachel Stearns six digs; Kaitlyn Williams and Jenesis McClure three digs; and Kaitlyn Beard two kills.

The Spartans host Princeton at 6:30 p.m. today.

Green, Moore top-5 for running Indians

NEWTON, Ill. — Brayden Green was third and Katie Moore fourth to lead Lawrenceville’s co-op cross country teams at the Newton Invitational on Tuesday.

Teutopolis defeated Newton with a better sixth-man finish in the boys race, scoring 33 each, while Newton edged Teutopolis, 31-37, in the girls race. The Indians didn’t have enough runners to post a score in the seven-team boys or six-team girls races.

Green covered the 2.75-mile course in 15:03. Trevor Parker was seventh, 16:36; Seth Seitzinger 14th, 17:39; and Colin Benson 33rd, 19:09. Moore was fourth for the girls in 19:39 and teammate Ophelia Klein fifth in 19:35.

Lawrenceville runs in the Little Illini Conference meet at Robinson at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) next Tuesday.

Freshman Alices end with shootout win

ELNORA — Zach Steffey threw for five touchdown passes, and Luke Tolliver was on the receiving end of two of them to push Lincoln past North Daviess, 48-42, in a freshman football shootout Monday.

Others hauling in TD passes were DeJuan Gillis, Jayden Easley and Collin Jackson. Easley added two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, while Jackson rushed in a score and two 2-point conversions, and Steffey had a two-point run. Tolliver chipped in defensively with an interception, and Gillis, Steffey and Hunter Jensen recovered fumbles.

The Alices complete their freshman campaign at 4-1 and join the junior varsity for their next contest at Mount Carmel, Ill., next Monday at 7 p.m.

Seventh-grade Alices reach volleyball final

JASPER — Clark’s seventh-grade volleyball team advanced to the Southern Indiana Junior High Athletic conference championship, while the eighth grade was eliminated in matches against Jasper on Tuesday.

The seventh grade eked out a 16-25, 25-17, 15-14 victory over the Wildcats. Kate Jones produced four points, three aces, seven kills, two digs; Amya Woodall six points, three aces, two digs; Matti Collins three aces, seven assists, two kills, two digs; Kahre McCrary three points, four aces, two kills, three digs; Addy Alton two assists, two kills, seven digs; Macey Jenkins four points; Brooklyn Tredway three kills; and Addi Connor two kills.

Jasper took the eighth-grade match, 25-12, 25-8. Lola Farrar tallied four kills, two blocks; Courtney Deffendoll five digs; and McKenna Henderson two assists.

Clark edges South Knox in 6th-grade volleyball

Clark’s sixth-grade volleyball team edged South Knox, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13, at the Spartans’ gym Tuesday.

Grace Archer accumulated nine points and seven aces for the Alices (3-2); Kiaya Farrar four points, four aces; Ava Steffey four points, three aces; Finley Greer three points, three aces; Aubrey Russell three aces; and Cynthia Memering two points.

Clark’s B-team won, 25-20, 18-25, 15-9. Miley Carie-Fredrick had eight points, eight aces; Daylin Thompson eight points, two aces; Jillian Hostetler five aces; Alyssa Thomas five points; and Hayden Cox and Kyndall Quarterman two points.
