PETERSBURG — South Knox's Trinity Dubbs was the only area player to break 50, and the Spartans took second in a triangular golf match with Pike Central and North Knox at Pride's Creek G.C. on Thursday.

The Chargers tripped South Knox, 219-229, while the Warriors weren't far behind at 239. Dubbs carded a 49, and was three strokes behind medalist Hadley Holder of Pike Central.

Others scoring for South Knox were Hailee Cooper with 56, Salena Dellinger 60 and Lauren Haveman 64. Bethany Williams notched a 67 and Andrea Williams 69.

“We kind of struggled,” Spartans coach Mark Gray said. “The course was beautiful, but there were a lot of holes where we just weren't sure. Do I hit a driver, or do I lay up with a five-iron? We were kind of indecisive, and that led to us struggling with our scoring. But we'll hit some balls at the range (today), and get ready to go to Terre Haute Saturday.”

For the Warriors, Tori French led the way with 52. Isabella May followed with 56, Sarah Richardson 65 and Milee Lane 66.

South Knox and North Knox will be joined by Rivet when they compete in the Terre Haute South Invitational at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
