Pioneers' big 2nd half
BOONVILLE — After a tight first half, Boonville rattled off four straight goals in the second half to bury Lincoln, 6-1, in a Big Eight Conference girls soccer match Wednesday.
The Alices (7-7, 0-5 Big Eight) got their tally from Sierra Mullins on a penalty kick in the 17th minute. Keeper Madalynn Grube made 30 saves.
“We played pretty decent soccer in the first half and had some good runs up the field,” Lincoln coach Kellie Cargal said. “It was a winnable game at that point, but we let them score first in the second half and our attitude totally shifted. We left an unmarked man in the middle, and they exploited it. We needed to think and act about two seconds faster than we did.”
