JASPER — The 14-year-old Vincennes All-Stars dropped two games to Jasper, 14-0 and 10-0, in the best-of-three series for the Babe Ruth State Championship on Thursday.

Dagen Parido led Vincennes in the series with three singles and a double, Zach Steffey singled twice, Collin Jackson and Jonathan Soderling doubled, and Gus McCrary singled.

Jasper advances to the Ohio Valley Regional in Huntington, W.Va., beginning July 25.

Lincoln girls golf hosts meeting Friday

Lincoln's girls golf team is hosting a preseason meeting at 3 p.m. next Friday at the Country Club of Old Vincennes.

Football camp nears for Future Alices

Registration is ongoing for the Future Alices Football camp, which takes place July 29-31 under the direction of Lincoln coach Levi Salters at the high school fields.

The three-day camp is open to youths entering kindergarten through eighth grade and meets from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. The cost is $25 per camper, while a second child from the same family costs $15 and a third costs $5. All participants receive a camp T-shirt.

No equipment is needed, though players are expected to report wearing a T-shirt, shorts and either football cleats or tennis shoes.

All campers are encouraged, but not required, to also sign-up for the Vincennes Football Association tackle and flag football seasons. Tackle football is for those entering third through sixth grade, and the cost is $50 per player, $30 for each additional sibling. Flag football is for kindergarten through second grade and costs $35.

The tackle football season plays every Saturday from Sept. 7 though Oct. 5, with practices beginning Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. Sizing, weigh-ins and equipment pass outs are on Aug. 5-6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Inman Field locker room facility

Flag football is tentatively slated to begin practices on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering to coach can email the VFA at info@vincennesfootball.com or send a message to the VFA Facebook page.

Golf scramble set for July 27-28

A two-man scramble golf tournament is scheduled for July 27-28 at the Country Club of Old Vincennes.

The entry fee is $200 per team and includes cart fee, a practice round the week of the tournament and lunch for Saturday's round. The entry deadline is July 23 and the field is limited to the first 50 paid teams.

The tournament, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start each day, is flighted after the opening round, and the flights are determined by number of entries.
