Vincennes University's volleyball team begins play in the NJCAA Division I Midwest A District Championship today at John A. Logan in Carterville, Ill.

The Trailblazers (23-19) take on No. 11 Iowa Western (26-9) at noon today in the first semifinal. The host Volunteers (28-9) take on Jefferson, Mo., (15-13) at 2 p.m., and the championship game is at 6 p.m. Fourteen district winners and two at-large spots play in the National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., beginning Nov. 21.

After going 12-1 through much of October, including a 10-match winning streak, VU has dropped six of its last seven matches, including a pair in the Region 24 tournament last week to earn the lowest seed in the District tournament. The Blazers lost to Iowa Western and Jefferson two weeks ago in Jefferson's Halloween Classic. John A. Logan also owns a pair of regular-season victories over VU.
