Cub League registration continues
Registration for the 2021 Vincennes Cub League baseball season is ongoing.
The Cub League is open to boys and girls ages 3-15, based on their age as of April 30, and the cost is $100 per player. The deadline to register is March 6, and the league drafts begin March 9. All COVID-19 protocols utilized last summer will be implemented again this season.
To offset the cost of the league, all participants are given 10 discount cards to sell for $10 apiece. Families get to keep the money received for the discount cards. Discount cards will be distributed on picture day in early May.
Participants play in one of six leagues based on their age, T-Ball (3-5), Junior Rookie (5-6), Senior Rookie (7-8), Junior (9-10), Senior (11-12) and Babe Ruth (13-15). Five-year-olds have the option of playing T-Ball or Junior Rookie League, but are strongly encouraged to have played at least one year of T-Ball.
All registration is being done on the league website, www.vincennescubleague.com. Questions should be directed to each league's vice president, and a list of vice presidents, along with their contact information, is available on the league website.
Registration is also open for the 14th season of Buddy Ball. Babe Ruth Baseball's Buddy Ball division is for players ages 5-20 who have physical and/or mental challenges, where participants have the help of a "buddy" to swing, round the bases and whatever else is required.
Buddy Ball is free, and the deadline to register is April 2. Games run from May 1 to June 26, meeting every Saturday on the Blue Diamond at 10 a.m.
Those interested in Buddy Ball can pick up a brochure/registration form at the Vincennes Water Utilities office located at 403 Busseron St.
