Emmett Ransom notched a pair of wins, leading Lincoln's boys swimming team to an 83-48 victory over host Tecumseh on Thursday, finishing a stretch of three away meets in three days.
Ransom's wins came in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:29.86 and the 500 freestyle, 6:45.34. Other victories were by Nolan Petts, 200 individual medley, 2:37.40; CT Nash, diving, 153.90; Chad Berry, 100 butterfly, 1:19.78; and Caleb Newman, 100 breaststroke, 1:08.26.
The team also had two relays wins. Petts, Newman, Nash and Jacob King combined to take the 200 medley, 2:08.47; and the 200 freestyle, 1:47.19.
The Lady Alices dropped a 139-36 decision and didn't have any race winners.
On Wednesday, host Boonville claimed a pair of triangulars over Lincoln and Evansville Central. The Pioneers had 164 in the boys meet, the Alices 82 and Central 56. For the girls, it was Boonville 120, Central 103 and Lincoln 85. The Alices only race winner was Ashlyn Hillenbrand in the 100 breaststroke, 1:29.92.
On Tuesday, Lincoln fell in double dual meets to Evansville North and host Castle. The boys fell to North, 142-72, and to Castle, 149-68. The girls lost to North, 149-70, and to Castle, 150-69. None of the Alices registered first-place finishes.
Freshman Alices fall to Wildcats
JASPER — Lincoln's freshman boys basketball team suffered a 44-33 loss at Jasper on Thursday.
Scoring for the Alices (7-2) were Drew Hambrick and Gus McCrary with 10 points, Raden Benson six, Tanner Gilbert five, and Darius Hill two.
Lincoln visits Evansville Memorial at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday.
7th-8th Warriors upend Pike Central
BICKNELL — North Knox picked up a pair of basketball wins in seventh and eighth grade games against Pike Central on Thursday.
The eighth grade won, 45-38. Braxton Yenne scored 12 points for the Warriors (6-5), Lane Adams 11, Blayne Boger seven, Brennan Messel six, Cole Kerns four, Aven Saucerman three and Mark Lehmann two.
North Knox's seventh grade (8-3) rolled, 57-19. Carson Goforth had 12 points, Rylan Oxby and Kyson Parker nine, Camden McCory eight, Skyler Nethercutt six, Rylan Cardinal five, Carlton Armes three, Will Arnold and Tyler Clark two, and Trenten Richards one.
North Knox visits White River Valley at 6 p.m. Monday.
South Knox 7-8 girls drop N.E. Dubois
DUBOIS — South Knox's seventh and eighth grade girls earned basketball wins over Northeast Dubois on Thursday.
The eighth-grade Spartans doubled up the Jeeps, 32-16. Ella Bobe had eight points, three steals; Bren Hill six points, two steals; Delaney Foley five points, two steals; Caroline Beard four points; Jade Powell three points; and Delaynee Coomes, Savannah Staggs and Mia Candler two points.
South Knox's seventh grade won, 26-17. Havanna Clinkenbeard had seven points, five rebounds, five steals, three blocks; Sarah French six points, four steals; Kassie Small five points, two steals; Cala Charleston four points, four steals; Delilah Gregory two points, two steals; and Aleah Kerzan two points.
7th-8th Spartans split with Vikings
Colt Hout poured in 33 points to lead South Knox's seventh-grade boys to a 41-35 basketball win over visiting Barr-Reeve on Thursday.
The eighth-grade Spartans were nipped by the Vikings, 26-23.
Others chipping in with Hout for the seventh grade (3-4) were Ace Hageman with four points, and Evan Hartwick and Cannon McCallister two.
It was the first loss for the eighth-grade Spartans (5-1). Sam Singleton led with 10 points, Isaac True scored four, Justin Siewers three, and Zach Woolard, Maverick Benjamin and Braydon Loudermilk two.
South Knox travels to Eastern Greene today.
Cougars pounce on 6th-grade Alices
Clark's sixth-grade boys basketball team dropped a 35-14 decision to visiting North Daviess on Thursday.
Scoring for the Alices were Colton York with four points, and Ryder Duke, Leyton Battles, Carson Heiden, Cooper Collins and Jayden Thacker two.
The Cougars also took the B-game, 28-15. Brody Phillips had eight points for Clark, Miles Gardner five and Connor Hahn two.
The Alices play in a tournament at Sullivan today.
6th-grade Warriors knock off Spartans
Eli Elkins collected 20 points and five steals as North Knox's sixth grade defeated host South Knox, 37-13, Thursday.
Levi Telligman added nine points and eight rebounds for the Warriors (4-1), Coy VanMeter scored five and Levi Pahmeier three. Layne Hays tallied six points for the Spartans, Tate Staggs three, and Tucker Mahan and Blake Sutton two.
South Knox claimed the B-game, 10-9. Brody West had eight points for the Spartans and Alex Harting two.
Today, North Knox plays Clark in the first round of the Sullivan Invitational at 11:30 a.m., while South Knox entertains Rivet at 10:30 a.m.
