Evansville Christian rallied for a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes and notched a 2-1 boys soccer win over Rivet at St. Vincent’s Field on Monday.
After a scoreless first half, Wesley Murawski scored on a long assist from keeper Aaron Wyatt.
The Eagles tied it two minutes later before taking the lead for good a few minutes after that.
Austin Finch, Murawski, Charlie Niehaus and Cedric Schleiss all had quality scoring opportunities in the second half according to coach Thierry Schleiss.
“We controlled play for most of the first half, but we didn’t get too many scoring chances,” the coach said. “We had two or three pretty good chances at an equalizer late, but we couldn’t find the net. It was a great performance by Evansville Christian’s goalie. That was the story.
“We showed a lack of composure. When you’re up 1-0 with 15 minutes left, you can’t let the other team score two goals, but our lack of experience seems to be following us.”
Wyatt recorded seven saves in goal.
Rivet (2-5-1) entertains Northeast Dubois at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
