BLOOMFIELD — North Knox's football team hadn't beaten Eastern Greene the last four times they have met, but seemed to take all that frustration out in one night Friday.

Cole Richter and Rhett Sheren scored three touchdowns apiece, and the Warriors tallied touchdowns on all 10 possessions in a 65-0 Southwest Conference victory over the overmatched Thunderbirds.

It was the most-lopsided win by the Warriors (1-1, 1-0 Southwest) since they disposed of Dugger, 82-14, in 2013.

North Knox rolled up 592 yards of offense. Richter amassed 152 yards on nine carries, and Sheren tallied 138 yards in six attempts. Brayden Haislip had 84 yards in eight tries and scored a pair of touchdowns. Holtman added 80 yards in four attempts with a score.

The Warriors were coming off a 15-12 loss at Sullivan last week, a game North Knox coach Josh Chambers said he thought his team should have won.

"We weren't quite ready last week," Chambers said. "The boys worked hard this week in practice, and I was all over them. If we're going to get where we're capable of getting to, we have to continue to push.

"I'm excited for my kids tonight. We were physical. We ran hard, and we hit hard. We got everybody in, and I got to see Haislip run against their varsity. I was real happy with the running of Richter and Sheren," he said. "We came here with the thought that we're going to run our base stuff until we get it right. We got it fixed. The offensive line fixed their woes from last week."

The Warriors scored 22 points in the first quarter and 25 in the second for a 47-0 halftime lead.

They took the opening kickoff and went 68 yards in six plays, with Richter reaching the end zone on a 10-yard run. Troy Noland's two-point conversion run made it 8-0 just over two minutes into the game.

After Eastern went 3-and-out, North Knox needed only three plays to go 92 yards. Holtman Doades covered the last 54 yards to make it 14-0 less than five minutes in.

Sheren's first score was a 12-yarder late in the first quarter. Richter and Sheren had runs of 17 and 1 yards to elevate the lead to 35-0 with 6:10 to go until halftime. Noland hauled in an 80-yard touchdown pass from Reece Hammelman with 1:36 on the second-quarter clock. After the T-birds only turnover of the game, a muffed backward pass recovered by North Knox's Andrew Cross, Richter ran it in from the 29 for the 47-point halftime lead.

The Warriors had 449 of their yards by halftime. Hammelman only threw three times, but completed two for 105 yards.

With the IHSAA new rule of a running clock after halftime with a 35-point lead, the last 24 minutes breezed past. But North Knox still scored on all three possessions. Sheren had a 33-yard run, and Haislip added TD runs of 8 and 38 yards.

Eastern was limited to 53 yards and three first downs, all before halftime. The Thunderbirds didn't get closer than the Warriors' 48-yard line.

"It doesn't matter if it's Eastern Greene, Tecumseh or Vincennes, we have to get better every day," Chambers said. "If we do that, by the end of October we're going to be a good football team for tournament time."

North Knox has its home opener at 7:30 p.m. next Friday against Tecumseh.
