The Bombers 13U baseball team, which is made up of mostly area players, won the United States Specialty Sports Association state championship earlier this month at the Indianapolis Sports Park.
The state tournament ran from June 17-19, and the Bombers, based out of Washington, won seven of their eight games.
Eight of the 11 players are from Knox County.
The Bombers tied their pool-play opener, 4-4, against the Unionville Arrows before winning seven in a row. The championship game was a 10-8 victory over the Evansville Razorbacks.
Over the eight games, the Bombers top hitters were Colton York (Clark) going 15-for-24 with 14 RBIs; Carson Graber (Barr-Reeve) 15-for-24, 11 RBIs; Emmett Graber (Loogootee) 11-for-21, 11 RBIs; Miles Gardner (Clark) 10-for-19; and Carson Sanders (Clark) 9-for-22.

Nash Ransom (Rivet) heated up at the end, hitting safely in the Bombers’ final five games, going 8-for-13 in that span.
Emmett Graber earned two pitching victories, including the semifinal, and Coy VanMeter (North Knox) also notched a pair of pitching wins. Levi Brown (Rivet) was credited with a strong start in a 7-6 quarterfinal win over the Summer City Vipers, and Alli Stearns (Rivet) twirled a three-inning no-hitter against the Central Indiana Wolfpack.
Ransom was the winning pitcher in the championship game, with Gabe Quezada (Washington) bridging the gap to Brody West (South Knox), who recorded the final two outs for the save.
Gardner went 3-for-4 with two runs in the title game; Carson Graber 3-for-3, three runs two RBIs; York 2-for-3, three RBIs; and Ransom and Brown 2-for-2, with Brown driving in two. Quezada and Stearns also had hits.
The Bombers’ season record moves to 18-5-2, including an 11-1-1 mark over their last two tournaments. The Bombers are coached by Willie VanMeter and Rodney Stearns.
