PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Adam Schenk mixed two birdies with two bogeys in an even-par opening round at the Valspar Championship on Thursday.
The Vincennes PGA golfer is in a tie for 66th place, and he is near the cut line for the low-65 golfers and ties that will be made after today's round.
Starting on the 10th hole, Schenk got to under par when he birdied the par-5 14th hole. But he followed it with consecutive bogeys on the par-3 15th and par-4 16th to make the turn at 1-over. He brought it back to even par when he birdied the par-5 first and followed that hole with eight consecutive pars.
Keegan Bradley took a two-shot lead with a 7-under 64 round Thursday. Five players are tied for second at 5-under.
He starts his second round at 7:17 a.m. today on the first hole with playing partners Kyle Stanley and Chase Seiffert.
